Why TX was created?

2nd week is about "Why TX was created?"
I'll introduce about the history that was made of TX.


Initially, the line was to be called New Joban Line.

The reason for the line was to relieve crowding on the Joban Line of East Japan Railway Company, which had reached the limit of its capacity.

However, with the economic downturn in Japan, the goal shifted to development along the line.
Also, the initial plan called for a line from Tokyo to Moriya, but expenses forced the planners to start the line at Akihabara instead of Tokyo, and pressure from the government of Ibaraki Prefecture resulted in moving the extension from Moriya to Tsukuba into Phase I of the construction.

The original schedule called for the line to begin operating in 2000, but delays resulted in a 2005 start.
From the start of the revised timetable on 15 October 2012, new "Commuter

rapid",services are due to be introduced in the morning and evening peak periods.

Number of passengers for the first year is 3,469million.

The average number of passengers per day, there were 150,700 more than expected before the opening.

After that,TX have reached the target of 27,000 people to record the 27,500 people in April 2009.

The reason for the increase of passengers,the Metropolitan Intercity Ryailway Compan has said " some of the population growth,settlement by the wayside development, the fruits of peace, stability and transport safety."

Route name after opening was recruited in 2000.

In February 2001,route name is decided to "Tsukuba Express" on  

the basis of these results.

BI color

Tsukuba Express has established two colors BI color.

・Blue - Represents a "safety and reliability" of the railway

・Red - Represents a "vibrant energy" of the Tsukuba Express

1978

Ibaraki Prefecture founded research committee and announced the plan of second Jyoban line.

1985.7.11

The need for the development of new lines of up to Tsukuba Science City from Tokyo.
1991.3.15

Funded by the investment of prefectures along the Joban new line,
Shutokenshintoshitetsudo Ltd. was founded.

1994.10

Celebrated groundbreaking ceremony.

Decisioned to “Tsukuba Express” railway name.

Designed of the vehicle was determined.
(JR East operates mainly be initially had been planned, but it didn't participate because that profitability was concerns.)

Tsukuba Express station name of all lines was determined.
